We enjoyed the last Saturday in April attending a local gardener's workshop for children. We were expecting a lesson on wiggly worms, but instead got some information about creating a butterfly garden. The target age is actually a little older than miss L but she did so well at the workshop. She listened and watched and showed us that she really is such a big girl now. It was fun!
The weather was lovely too. The sun has been out and it's warm without being hot, so it was a great day to spend outside with the entire family. Here sweet baby W and I are exploring the master gardners' demonstration garden.

L is exploring the "maze" of stones through the plants in the children's section of the garden.

I loved the assortment of wasp, er, I mean bird houses. Aren't they cute? ;o)

That same day we decided to head to the nursery to see if they had the worms that Brad needs for his worm bin. While we were right there we headed to a local shopping plaza that has fountains that are popular for kids to play in. L has been very skeptical of the fountains for the past two years. I'm not sure why, but she has just been so afraid. This year I think we are going to overcome all of that.
She started out a little nervous just wanting to watch the other kids. This is pretty typical for miss L. She's usually a little bit nervous about new situations at first.

Then she wanted to get closer, but wanted to do so with her daddy by her side.

Then she was brave enough to leave her daddy's side, but didn't want to get in the water quite yet. Mostly she wanted to run around the edge of the fountains. I kept telling her to slow down and she would for just a moment and then her excitement would get the best of her.

At some point she finally decided to touch the water and then there was no going back. She had a blast!

Love this photo! We always know that miss L is having a great time when she stops walking and starts hopping around. Love it!

Miss L loves the big kids. One of her favorite people in the world is her friend C who is nearly 5 (how is that possible?). There were some "big" kids playing that day in the fountains. There was one close encounter with a big kid when L stuck her finger in her belly button (the little girl looked at L like, what ARE you DOING?!) but mostly L had a great time doing whatever the big kids were doing. One boy was counting down, "5-4-3-2-1-BLAST OFF!" to the fountains. L thought that was a lot of fun and this photo is her checking him out and sort of trying to figure out what he is doing.

What a fun day. I know we'll be spending plenty of time there this summer. On Mother's day we ate at a restaurant in the same little plaza area. All L could talk about was going to play in the water even though it was 60 degrees outside. I can't wait for summer!
L has been excited to see her sunflowers grow. They've made some progress!

Sweet baby W got his elephant photo taken because he is now 3 months old. That is so hard to believe! Brad took the photos again, so of course there are a TON of great ones. I can't believe how much he's changed already.

He LOVES the fan. When I change his diaper or really just whenever he catches a glimpse of it he stares at it and smiles ear to ear and coos and babbles at the fan. It's so cute!

Just like his big sister he already has such an expressive face. Here are a few:

...my favorite has to be this dr. evil face. Imagine him saying, "One Billion Dollars." :o)

He's just growing up so fast! He's learned to suck on his fingers and unlike his big sister, he'd much rather suck on his fist or his fingers than a pacifier. He's also moved to his room and his big crib. I was actually kind of sad to see him leave our room, but I do have to say that I think we're all sleeping longer and better. He's started taking naps in his room too. It's really the only way he gets a nap with a big sister full of energy! He laughs and he smiles and loves to watch his family, especially his big sister. He is growing up!
Miss L is doing some growing herself. I watch her do these things and had the presence of mind (by some miracle!) to write them down so I could remember to put them in my blog. She's developed a favorite shirt. There's a rock band that we see often around here and she LOVES them. I think she's really their #1 fan. We talk about them everyday when I ask her what she'd like to do today. She knows the names of the members of the band. We simply must listen to them everyday in the car and everyday she asks to wear the shirt we got at one of their concerts. When I tell her it's dirty she says, "wash it?" It's really cute. She's also started pretending to be things. She pretends she's her friend E the most, but she also pretends to be Brad's brother and sister-in-law or that Daddy is Mommy and vice versa or some combination. It's amazing to see her imagination grow and develop. Finally, there's something she's been doing for awhile, but recently started doing a LOT. She loves to sing and we love to hear her, but she'll get a song stuck in her head and sing the words around the house. Lately the favorite is, "airplane man." Too cute!
Sweet W is sick and needs some attention now, but I hope we'll get out and about this week for some great photos next week. See you soon!
