Weekly Update

Hello!

It's been another very short week. I have no idea why, but lately the weeks are just passing me by. I can't believe that it's actually time for Halloween already. As a family, we've been working really hard on being right in the moment, not over-scheduling and doing things together. You would think that this would slow things down a bit, right? WRONG! Time keeps ticking on by. Let me know when any of you figure out how to slow it down.

L has been as active as ever. She is a very busy girl, with hardly a second sitting down. She's also very curious girl. We have these magnet locks installed on several different cabinets in the kitchen and two magnet "keys" to open them. I try to keep one of them low enough for her to reach because she just loves it. She sticks it to the fridge and the dishwasher and tries to stick it to the walls, the wood doors, etc. It's funny to see what she can get it to stick onto. Since we're teething, she also loves to chew on it.

She has also become obsessed with our cat James. He is not quite so fond of her. She will chase him wherever he is and sometimes she is very gentle, and other times she pulls his tail. He is mostly patient but he will meow at her with irritation in his voice every once in a while. I don't know why he doesn't just go hide somewhere if he doesn't want her to mess with him, but I guess he'll learn.

Her new thing this week has been laying her head on him. It's really really cute.

(he was so happy to be in the sun and have a little love. he has to take it where he can get it lately.)

James was being especially patient that day because that was the only open window in the house and he was working really hard at fitting himself into the opening.

This isn't really anything new, but it does seem to be happening a lot lately. L is really into playing with anything that isn't a toy. Our recycling center sometimes gets full and before we take it down we might stack the larger items on top. L loves this. It's her second toybox. She especially loves milk bottles and will carry one around all day until we finally throw it out.

She's also been climbing a lot. When did she get so old?

This Sunday was the fall festival party at our church. L was not crazy about wearing her wings at first.

We actually had two tutus. Uncle Kyle and Aunt Lisa helped us construct the wings and a tutu for her first Halloween. It was really big at the time. I also purchased another tutu for L this year and it's a little big, so I tried last year's tutu on and it was perfect!

We had a wonderful time at the fall festival. There was lots to do and lots of friends to do it with!

Weekly Update

Hello everyone! For the most part it's been a quiet week, although yesterday something really wonderful happened. I'm not sure what I want to say about it, except that I love our family. I love that our family is diverse and that there are so many people in L's life who love and adore her. She is pretty adorable.

I didn't take a lot of photos this week. We met up at a local park that has many different animals with our friends M and B. M is five and is at that age where she is a little mommy. She loved catching baby L at the bottom of the slide (and L did slide nearly a gajillion times, I think) and playing with her. B is 3 and at that age where baby L finds him absolutely fascinating but he's not sure what babies are really good for. He's going to have one soon at his house so he'd better get used to it! Hee hee. The three of them had a great time. We were excited to see the animals and to play on the playground afterwards. I brought my camera to take some photos, but I dropped it in the parking lot and afterwards I couldn't get it to turn on. I was pretty sure that I was going to have to go live with M and B, but luckily it began working again as soon as I got in the car. I do have a dent in the end of my lens, though, which Brad is pretty cranky about. ;o)

The only shots I got were of L checking out a bug on the slide before our friends got there.

It was hot last week! It was in the mid to upper 80s, and we were wearing our shorts and short sleeved t-shirts. This week, it is freezing of course, and we're all about the sweaters now, but it was a nice little summer break while it lasted.

L has been loving the bunny lately. She will pick it out of her toy basket and then carry it around and hug and pat it. My main trouble is that by the time I get my camera she's tired of playing with it, so it's hard to get some good shots of the bunny.

Can you believe that this is the same bunny?!

I can't get over these eyes.

L is getting to be "helpful." Well... it's really not helpful, but she can hear that dishwasher open from any room in our house and as soon as it does, she is THERE! She wants to "help" by taking all of the dishes out and them licking them. It's very cute.

Weekly Update

Whew. It's been a big week!

Baby L is so funny. This week she brought her shoes to me and I asked if she wanted them on. She indicated that she did and so I put them on her and she ran for the door. I think she's getting to be a girl who enjoys being outside, and I don't blame her. It's been warm and sunny around here lately.

She also likes to shut doors lately. The screen door shuts itself, but she's happy to help.

It seems like we're getting out more and more lately. Sometimes we just need our time out of the house.

Sweet baby L has been getting gradually more picky lately, but it seems to be sporadic. Somedays she hates peas, somedays she loves them. In fact, at times in the same meal she hates and then loves them. I just keep trying to fix good meals for her and hoping she'll eat them.

Last week I made stroganoff. She loved it. We stripped her down so she was eating in only a bib and her diaper, which was cute, but she was covered in stroganoff by the end of the meal. It was so cute I had to snap a couple of photos.

DSC_0020

It's hard to see in that photo, but she that stroganoff is everywhere!

Saturday we attended a birthday party for L's friend I.

There was yummy food:

I love going to any event like this. It absolutely wears L out completely. She sleeps great. We left the party so that L could go to bed and Brad geared up for the Oklahoma State game on tv. I said that if OSU won L would wear her gear to church on Sunday and this is what happened:

Go Pokes!!

We spent Sunday afternoon hanging out around the house. L desperately needed a day of rest and so did her parents. She woke up Sunday morning with tooth #9, on the upper right side. I was so surprised that she got that tooth, because her bottom gums are so swollen and I can see the teeth just almost through, but the top one came first. She's working on another three (the other side on top and then the two bottom teeth) so we'll see what happens. I'm ready to have all those teeth in so we can quit worrying about it!

It amazes me at what L can see. She can see the tiniest thing on the floor. She'd spilled a drop of milk on the floor and got down to inspect it.

DSC_0013

Then she noticed the camera and decided to let the milk go and explore that instead.

Then Monday we had a playdate at C's house. It was so much fun!

At L's weekly playgroup the kids are all her age, but with this group she's one of the smaller ones. It's so cute to see the big girls take care of her of play with her. They do a great job making sure that she doesn't eat anything she's not supposed to and they are all very patient with her. It's very sweet to watch.

We had a great time.

We'll see you next week! Take care!
