Weekly Update

It has not been an extremely eventful week.  We got back in the swing of things after both L and I had been sick (and we've both still got a cough, but we're definitely better).  We attended our regular playgroup and a class that we've been taking a gym for kids.  L and I both love our routine.  We don't have a schedule that blocks out every day, because we still like being able to do a few spontaneous things, but the dailiness of our routine is helpful to both of us.

When I last wrote, I had mentioned how well the big girl bed is going.  It's still going very well.  L is going down for naps and bedtime without fuss.  She plays in her room for a little while, sometimes around 30 minutes and then crawls up in her bed to go to sleep.  She's always quiet so it's hard to tell when the crawling into bed happens, but so far so good.  A couple of nights, however, we've gone up to check on L and found something funny.

L had fallen asleep right behind the door in her bedroom.  Brad scooped her up and put her into bed and we left, but of course, not before getting one more photo.

She was just so sweet sleeping behind the door.  We found her another night sleeping on top of all of her books that she'd pulled off her bookshelf.  It didn't seem comfy to me, but I guess it was perfect for her.

I also had to include these photos.  L knows how to work a camera, and these are photos of her saying "cheese."  What a sweet girl!

This week we're looking forward to a visit from Grandma.  She's never been to our new house, and we're happy to show it off.  L will be happy for the extra playmate!

Weekly Update

After being stuck in the house since Monday, we decided to try an outing on Friday. L seemed to be doing better and had been over 24 hours without any real fever. We headed to a local farm with some mommy friends and had a morning of fun!

N's little brother J is such a squeezy little guy.  He is such a happy guy!

L's friend C is just about the same age as L, and it's been so fun to watch them grow up together.  It's hard to believe that a little less than a year ago they were playing together and not even walking yet.  Now they are such big girls!  

We saw some chickens and bunnies and even some ducks!  The babies are out in full force this time of year and all of the kids had a great time checking them out.

L's friend E came too, and had a great time checking out the horses.

Here's a baby goat that I thought was too cute!

After our morning at the farm L was worn out.  We were still recovering from being sick and she was getting grumpy so we headed home for our nap.

Now I was a little bit nervous.  This was only L's second day in her crib turned into a toddler bed and she was free to move about her room.  I didn't know how well it was going to go, but we ate lunch and I put her down as is our daily routine.

Thirty minutes after I put her down she was quiet, but I could tell she wasn't sleeping.  Brad came home early that day and we did some work around the house and waited for sleep to happen.  Three hours later she was not yet asleep and we decided to get her up.  She wasn't upset or crying, but we didn't think that sleep was coming. 

Brad went upstairs to get her and had a hard time opening the door.  When he did get the door open, what he discovered was this:

This was the main problem.  L had managed to open her closet door, a closet usually well organized, but with plenty of stuff within reach.  She had taken all her diapers out of the package and distributed them around her room, completely destroyed a refill pack of wipes, dumped the dirty clothes onto the floor and had pulled a bunch of clean clothes down.  All that time she'd been so quiet, and now I know she was up there destroying her room!  The biggest surprise was that she got her nightlight out of the socket, and gotten the bulb out of the light.  It's put away now!

Since Friday afternoon, we've surprisingly not had any trouble at all!  We hear her up there rumbling around, but she always seems to end up asleep in her bed and we've not had a repeat of the Friday napping incident.  It seems to have gotten to be normal for her to go up to her room and go to sleep on her own.  I can't believe my baby is so big!

Friday night we were so happy to welcome my sister in law Amy and my nephews, H and B for the night.  They were just spending the night, but there was time in the morning to snap a few photos before they left.  It was so wonderful to see them! Those boys have grown so much!



L even stole Aunt Amy's sunglasses, but something about being adorable lets her get away with those sorts of things.



It's just crazy to see how fast she's growing.

L's fever was back on Sunday with a vengeance.  We've been to the doctor and are seeming to get better each day.  Tomorrow will make a 24 day without the "contagious" symptoms and we will be looking forward to actually getting out of the house again!

I just can't believe that she is so old!  We're so blessed to have a little girl that is healthy and happy and brings joy to our lives each and every day.  She reminds us so often how wonderful life is!  I'll have to do another food likes and dislikes post soon.  Maybe next week!

Weekly Update

I'm sorry that I'm a little late this week!

L has been sick this week (99.9% sure it's NOT the swine flu ;o) and we've just been in the house. Today we briefly changed out of pajamas, but mostly that's only because all of the pajamas, except long sleeved ones, were dirty.

L has this habit lately of seeing the camera and then coming right over to me and saying cheese.



I don't even know what she was doing when I got the camera out to take that photo, because that face is what happens as soon as it appears. It's really cute though, right?

Today was sort of a hard day. L woke up as good as new, and our morning was great, but everything started to deteriorate around naptime. L slept only 30 or 45 minutes and after that it was just hard. Lucky for me, Brad came home early and L always always loves playing with her daddy. I got these photos of them playing this afternoon.





I just thought it was really adorable.

This evening things got a little harrier. We knew this day was coming, we just didn't know when. Tonight Brad went up to get L some milk and as he walked up the stairs he heard the doorknob rattling in her room. He opened the door and there L was, standing right next to it. She had climbed out of her crib! All of her hair stuff was all over the floor. As soon as we picked her up we realized that she took some of her mimosa hair honey (smells so yummy!) and spread it all over the floor and all over her pants. Uh oh!

Brad quickly made sure that everything was bolted to the wall while I put L in her crib for a demonstration.

She was upset that I put her back in at first.



...but she was happy to demonstrate.



















...and yes, those are halloween pajamas.

We changed her pajamas (those are just too hot!) and Brad took the front off of her crib so that she wouldn't hurt herself climbing out and so far... no sleep. I always sort of dreaded this day. L is not a sit still kind of girl and I knew there was no way she would willingly stay in a bed without sides! So we are just waiting to see if sleep comes. Hopefully... it will! We at least moved anything messy or dangerous high up off the ground.
