The weekend after our anniversary we decided to try out the jumperoo. I honestly have no idea when we put L in hers for the first time (but don't you doubt for a second that I have it written down!) but baby W likes to be held nearly all the time and we thought that keeping him upright in the jumperoo might help. He doesn't like it for more than a few minutes, but he definitely likes it!
At first he was just checking it out.

His sweet little feet just barely brushed the ground.

...and I'm not sure what caught his eye here. It was probably his big sister, but it made him happy.

I almost hate to say that it's been less than a month and he's already looks so much bigger in there!
Somewhere in there we also took these photos. L is a great big sister. She's always willing to help baby W out. She even hardly ever seems jealous of the attention that he gets, but very occasionally she'll want to have some special time with one of us. We're happy to oblige. She particularly enjoys playing a game with me where I say, "do you know what I need?" and she says either neck, tummy or fighs (thighs) and I tickle her. It's cute. It's fun. I'll probably cry when she stops doing that, but luckily I have these photos to help me remember.

She definitely went through a phase a while ago where everytime we asked her to smile she'd make this funny face. She's started doing that again. Here's her "cheese" face.

After L was done with me baby W had his turn with the tickle monster (and where did all that grey hair come from? geez!).

I am extremely happy to report that L potty trained that weekend. Friday morning she woke up and reported that she didn't want to wear a diaper. I seized the opportunity and had her run around the house without any pants on at all. I loaded her up on whatever she wanted to drink (that morning it was chocolate milk, a treat at our house) and by 10:00am she was asking for a diaper. I told her that we weren't going to do that (praying she wouldn't fight me on it and she didn't!) and in the next few minutes she sat down on the little frog potty and went! We've had only a handful of accidents since then and we never looked back. I'm more than thrilled and miss L is so very proud of herself. Woohoo!
Early in our having-just-been-potty-trained career we tried to stay pretty close to home. During a trip to the grocery store miss L made a visit to the bathroom. The toilet flushed while she was on it. This cured miss L from using any public toilets or even the toilets in our house. She will only use her froggy potties. At first she would not use the one in our car which created a sort of boundary around our house where we couldn't stray too far from our toilet. We looked for fun things to do close to home and luckily the firehouse was having an open house! Miss L LOVES fire trucks. LOVES LOVES LOVES them. Best of all, it was outside. If she had an accident, then it would be easy to clean up!
First we encountered Terry the Traumasaurus the paramedic dinosaur.

There was an ambulance to enter and explore.

I have to admit that this was a moment of small overwhelm for me. One of the items on our to do list before sweet baby B could come home was to register with this fire department. Because of his special health condition, particularly the fact that his oxygen levels needed to be much lower (70-80 instead of 95+) than a healthy individual, he needed a special team to come should he need to ride in an ambulance. It just made me wonder if he ever would have had to ride in an ambulance. I just had a little moment. It was quickly dissipated, however, by the very excited two year old by my side.

There was a lot more to see too:

She even got to climb up and sit in a real fire truck.

Sweet baby W enjoyed himself.

After that it was a trip up the giant slide. Miss L really wanted to just keep doing this over and over, but we had one more thing to do and I knew that at any moment an accident could happen. :o)

Our last stop at the fire station was the face painting table. At first miss L chose a big black spider, but then changed her mind to a ladybug. :o) I am always so amazed at how well she does with facepainting. She sits so still! That never happens for me!

It was such a good time and we didn't leave any puddles anywhere.
Miss L is (and has been) getting so big. We recently went to our favorite shoe store and her feet measured a size 10 even though in January she was measuring an 8! Since her shoe size changed so dramatically I decided to check her height. She measured in at a whopping 40 inches! I can't believe she's gotten so tall! I checked her carseat just to be sure and of course it tops out at 40 inches. I'm interested in keeping her in the next carseat as long as she needs one so we got a carseat with a five point harness up to 65 pounds and then it'll work up to 100 pounds as a booster with a back or without. That will surely get her to age seven and through her carseat career.
Starting awhile ago we started having her buckle herself in. She's a very independent girl and the plan was to move her to the rear of the minivan when we needed the two middle seats for the twins. She used to work so hard to get herself buckled and though she can't unbuckle herself, she can buckle herself in like a pro and gets worked up if you even think about trying to help.

...and because the sun is so painful, she's gotta have shades.

Saturday mornings are the BEST at our house. It usually starts with Brad going downstairs with miss L to play while I sleep in with sweet baby W. At some point though, the entire family ends up in our bed for awhile. Honestly, it's one of my very favorite things. Miss L loves on her brother and we all cuddle and tickle and have a great time. I know these mornings won't last forever, so I try to just soak them up while I can.

Okay, I HAD to include this one and I'm sorry if it's in poor taste. :o) I mean, WHAT are the chances that I'd get this one in a string of all the photos. In fact, I had no idea that I had gotten it until I was looking back. Anyway... *I* think it's funny. :o)

Blowing kisses:

That Saturday morning we went strawberry picking with some friends and their kids. We went to a different farm than we've gone to in the past and it was AMAZING. It was cool, almost cold, and it was foggy and peaceful in the foothills of the mountains near our home. It was a gorgeous setting and so much fun.

Meeting up and getting buckets:

They gave us a row to pick in. Miss L put her own socks on that day and absolutely refused to let anyone push them down. I'll be sad when she outgrows these little things. I'm kind of hoping she never really does.

First taste:

Here's miss L "smiling." I also hope that she doesn't ever stop doing that.

Sweet baby W was having a hard morning. He's just a sensitive little guy and sometimes being in a place that is not absolutely comfortable for him makes him a bit fussy. That morning it was a little on the chilly side and (as will be true from now until October) humid. He was very fussy so I ended up wearing him and bouncing him around most of the time.

After a little while picking and tasting, miss L decided that it would be fun to run around in the grass.

What a wonderful morning!

Brad even got to participate in a round of duck duck goose. It was really cute to see miss L play. She was sort of like, okay run, uh, okay, sit. :o) It's sort of hard to explain to a two year old.

There was a simultaneous front roll.

What a wonderful morning! Even the littler C had some fun in the grass.

In the end we were worn out and all a little fussy. I'm pretty sure that's because we had such an awesome time! We stopped for a photo by the sign before heading out.

...and that's it for this half of the update. Check back tomorrow for the rest including everyone's favorite... ELEPHANT PHOTOS!
