Weekly Update

Hello! It's Monday and I'm posting! It must be a great week! :o)

Brad has started posting this on his facebook page, so if you're reading from there, hello!

We have all healed and recovered from what felt like a month-long illness. L's nose is still a little bit runny, but other than that we've all returned to normal.

I feel like L changed a lot this week. I know that seems silly, but I really do! On Friday L and I were sitting in the basement and I was trying to get ready for a day of scrapbooking on Saturday. Two weeks ago (I think) I moved all of the upstairs toys to the basement and all of the basement toys to the main floor. L was very much enjoying seeing the toys that she hadn't seen in awhile and came across her toy laptop that's been out of batteries for months. She opened the top, pressed the buttons with her fingers (a change from whacking them with her whole hand), and then brought the laptop to me. I looked at it and turned it on (even though I knew it would do nothing) and handed it back. She tried pushing the buttons again and when they still didn't make the sounds she expected she brought it back to me. I was just shocked and amazed. Not only did she remember that it should make sound when she pushes the buttons, but she also knew that when it didn't do what it was supposed to that she could bring it to someone to fix it. I was so amazed that I stole the batteries from the wii remote (sorry Brad) so that it could have batteries and she played with that thing for a long time.

Another thing that I feel like is new this week is that L is waaaaaay into playing with this ball tube that she's had forever and only recently noticed.

She loves putting the balls (or little people, or anything that will fit) in the tube.

... and then she claps!

I love that little squat (sorry about the runny nose).

I just really feel like she's changing so fast. She's becoming a toddler faster than I'd like to admit and doing things that big kids do. She's playing with her toys the way they are meant to be played with. I really just have such a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that this has all happened so quickly. I promise you that it feels like yesterday she was placed in my arms. My goodness life is moving fast!

I took this photo this morning. I'm trying to do more experimenting with my camera and this was using a setting not exactly the way it's meant to be used. I was using the macro focus setting, and although it does allow my camera to focus when L is two inches away from me (which she often is when the camera is out) it doesn't allow the light in the same way. Those of you who actually know something about taking photos will know what I mean. I was trying to read about it and got to the part about bending light and then I fell asleep. Just kidding. Sort of.

Anyways, I got this photo and I really love it. Again, I'm sorry about the runny nose. I promise that I really do wipe her nose sometimes. I was sitting on the floor and she was crawling up to get my camera.

This week we attended *the* preschool event of the fall. Rocknoceros was giving a special concert and we met some friends to enjoy the fun.

We all had a great time. L stayed up very late, but went to bed blissful from a day of super fun.

Next week I'll be traveling. I am hoping to have an update but may not have access. If not, I'll see you in two weeks!
