We're so lucky to be able to travel with Brad when he has business trips. It's one of the things we loved before having children and now it's even better. Last night we left in the evening. We had so much stuff for a five day trip! We got all our stuff out of the car and onto the shuttle and we were heading for the airport from the parking lot when we realized... we forgot the carseat. We purchased L a seat with the idea that holding her would be impossible. She's so active and we both knew she'd be much more comfortable sitting on her own, in her chair, than constantly squirming to get down. Well... we though, no bother, we'll just put her in the seat belt and she'll be fine.
...she was not. fine. :o)
L begged and begged to be held and when she was held she begged and begged to be put down so she could roam. I don't think the poor thing sat still for even a second while we were on that plane. To make matters worse, there were storms in the area and we were delayed on the runway for over an hour, just sitting and listening to L fuss. I feel bad for the people on that plane. L was sooooo tired and was crying a good deal of the trip. We are now those parents on the plane! At least we know how it feels I guess.
We got here late, but all in one piece and the rental car company gave us the carseat for free, so that was a blessing. We found our hotel easily and enjoyed sleeping in a little this morning while poor daddy had to go to work.
We were just about to go. Our shoes were on and I was just getting the essentials into my purse. L was playing in the room and I saw her running across when she tripped and caught the edge of the office chair. This is all everyday stuff at our house and I scooped her up and held her thinking it was just a bump. I put her on the bed to check her head and her poor face was covered with blood. I tried to clean her up a bit but the gash on her forehead was not giving up, and I knew she needed stitches so we hurried downstairs and asked the ladies at the front desk for directions to the nearest hospital. Luckily, the wound was small enough to glue rather than stitch, which was another blessing. I've had stitches fairly recently (five years this summer if you can believe it!) and it's not pleasant. I had horrible visions of trying to keep that baby still while the doctor sewed her up. Thank goodness we didn't have to! So L got glued and we stopped for a very unhealthy lunch before coming right back for a nap.
Now L has just woken up. She's sitting in her pack n play looking at the photos in her baby animal book and every once in a while I hear a "ruff ruff" (which is "uh uh") or a "meow" (which is "ow"). Things seem to be all better and I know Brad will be here momentarily and we'll be off to enjoy the weather.
I love this photo of L at the airport.

See you soon!
