Little Legos

From June 26, 2012.

Very recently we visited the lego store. I'm not sure what started the conversation but we started talking about the little legos. So far, we've had only duplos at our house. Miss L enjoys the "real" legos but she always said she didn't mind playing with the duplos at home since she knows the pieces are so small on the others. At some point, though, it became apparent that she really enjoys putting things together with her dad and the added bonus of a lego kit with a manual seemed perfect for them.

So, there we were at the lego store. We decided to let miss L pick out whatever she wanted. First there was a set with a policeman and a robber complete with handcuffs and firearms. I sort of gently suggested that maybe she'd like something like a recycling truck. She loved it! It had 208 pieces and we thought they could work on it over a couple of days.

They sat down at the kitchen table with the book and the pieces and they worked and worked. I think Brad enjoyed it as much as she did and they did the whole thing in a single afternoon while mister W was taking his nap.

Since then, the recycling truck has lived on the buffet in the kitchen. I'm so nervous about an army crawling baby getting the tiny pieces and nervous about mister W destroying it in their bedroom. If we get more lego sets we'll have to decide how to handle storage, but for now, this is working.

What I didn't foresee is how much mister W would love that truck. He loves the little guys and the pieces. He'll stand on a chair at the buffet and play for a long time. It appears that miss L loves to build them and mister W loves to play with them. They might be the best match ever.
