It's always something right before we leave town. As we were preparing to go on a visit to my hometown (in fact, this was a Tuesday and we were leaving on Friday) we went to the grocery store to stock up on car snacks. We've been trying to kick the processed food habit for good (and we've been off sugar for a little while) so preparing for a road trip takes some planning! As I was bringing the groceries in mister W stood at the door watching. When I went out for my final trip to get the groceries the glass door shut behind me and I heard him scream.
His finger was caught in the hinge side of the door! I looked at it and immediately knew something was wrong so we headed to the ER.
By the time we actually saw the physician mister W was in great spirits. The doctor didn't think it was broken since mister W was so happy, but after x-ray it was clear that it was. He was such a brave little guy and genuinely enjoyed getting to see his bones! What a trooper! The fracture was in the end-most knuckle and the orthopedist gave mister W a splint to wear. He did a good job with it (even though it was the dirtiest thing you've ever seen by the time his two weeks of wearing it was up). When we redid x-rays after our trip, he was just fine!
