Port Discovery

The best part of homeschooling is the field trips. We've lived by these places forever, but never actually got to see any of them, so we're trying to remedy that this year. On October 24, 2012 we headed to Port Discovery to see what there was to see! Miss L and mister W wasted no time making their way around the place.

We played with this simple machine to move "eggs" around in the farm.

They have a center just for kids 2 and under. It's full of sensory experiences, and I think that sweet little man could have spent all day here, though the bigger kids got bored.

There were two highlights for our kids. The first was the water room. It's magnificent. There are places for kids under 18 months to sit and play. There are raincoats and crocs available (though I brought a change of clothes for everyone so we didn't have to worry about that). There are weather system play areas, areas to learn about water pressure, locks and canals, what floats and what doesn't, etc. It's really fantastic.

Our other favorite was this full diner. There's a kitchen, booths, a bar, a cash register, menus. There are dress up opportunities to be a waitress and a chef. We enjoyed just sitting and being silly while miss L and mister W brought us food.
