One Saturday each month we've been getting together with friends to share dinner. We alternate houses and the one hosting cooks while the one joining brings dessert. It's really fabulous as a way to catch up and let the kids play. With small children it's sooo hard sometimes to find time to just talk and even if we don't get to see each other or talk any other time I know that I will always get to see them on those Saturday nights.
This last one was yummy. We had fresh tomatoes from the farmer's market and so we made BLTs (simple, but a staple at this house in the summer) and I broke my sugar rule for some AMAZING mint kiss brownies. The kids played and were all tired when it was just time to go. We went outside to wave goodbye (sad to see them go, of course) and the kids just didn't want to go inside.
Mister W suggested "sock chalk" so we got some out. I'm not really sure how this evolved, though. At some point we decided to trace miss L. Then mister W. Then miss L traced us. Even sweet little man was traced at some point. I think these are hilarious.
Here's Brad.
Here's a very dirty baby.
Here is sweet little man's outline. :o)
Here is miss L. I love the hat!
Here's mister W with a robot shirt.
AND me!
The moon was in the sky (miss L called it a banana moon :o). I tried to point it out to mister W but he never did find it. Here he's trying to show it to sweet little man.
These are the best nights, I think. The spontaneous ones where stuff just happens. Happy summer everyone!
